State-of-the-Art Electronics Platform Offers Improved Communication and Connectivity, Prevents Downtime
LAS VEGAS –MINExpo International 2012 (September 24, 2012)– Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today launched the new Thermo Scientific Ramsey Micro-Tech 9000 Electronics platform, a state-of-the-art offering that provides enhanced communication and connectivity for process industry weighing and monitoring applications. The Ramsey Micro-Tech 9000 Electronics platform improves communication and efficiency via built-in Ethernet and USB and prevents system downtime with independent load cell troubleshooting. The new platform replaces both the Thermo Scientific Ramsey Micro-Tech 2000 and Ramsey Micro-Tech 3000 series of electronic instruments. The Ramsey Micro-Tech 9000 Electronics platform is on display within the Thermo Scientific booth #949 at MINExpo, September 24-26, in Las Vegas.
“The Thermo Scientific Ramsey Micro-Tech 9000 Electronics platform combines state-of-the-art electronics technology with the expertise and product reliability associated with every Thermo Scientific product,” said Paula Frisk, product manager for the bulk weighing and monitoring solutions group at Thermo Fisher. “The built-in Ethernet IP, serial communications and USB significantly enhance the platform’s communications capabilities, improving productivity, and its common interface improves user efficiency across all its models. The platform also features independent load cell troubleshooting, so there’s no need to disconnect the load cell wiring during service, which minimizes downtime.”
The Ramsey Micro-Tech 9000 platform features built-in USB for such tasks as uploading set-up information, downloading event logging, setting up multiple systems at once and enhanced system configuration. The built-in Ethernet enables the platform to support a wide range of common protocols and tie equipment into existing systems or establish new process systems. Other features include an improved HMI interface that supports multiple languages (English, Italian, Spanish and German, among others); global approvals and certifications, including cCSAus, ATEX, NTEP, MID, Gost-R and more; and common technology among components and enhanced hardware design for improved serviceability.

The Ramsey Micro-Tech 9000 platform is designed for use in applications where bulk products need to be weighed, monitored, controlled, batched or blended. This includes such industries as coal mining and processing, power/utilities, metals processing, mineral mining, cement and cement products, aggregate, chemical, food and kindred. Even with its updated electronics and added functionality the Ramsey Micro-Tech 9000 platform will be priced at the same level as the current MT 2000.
